La Vaca is a tunnel that crosses the Punta de la Galera de la Meda Gran, protected from the north winds.

This dive site offers a unique underwater landscape. La Vaca is a tunnel of large dimensions and remarkable luminosity, suitable for divers of all levels. The tunnel has three entrances that lead to the main passage, where the play of light and shadow is perfect for lovers of underwater photography. On exiting the tunnel, the dive continues along a vertical wall that ends in a platform made up of large blocks of rock.

Inside the tunnel, you can observe a wide variety of fauna typical of caves and low-light bottoms, including bryozoans, gorgonians, red coral, other slow-growing corals, sponges, three-tailed, Swiss vaquitas and porcelains. On the north face of the tunnel, the walls are adorned with red gorgonians, where it is common to see moray eels and groupers.

During the grouper breeding season, this place becomes a spectacular meeting point to observe a high concentration of these fish. The Medes Islands, and especially La Vaca, offer divers a unique experience with their biodiversity and stunning underwater landscapes, making this destination one of the most fascinating to explore in the deep sea.
