Bassas Da India, Maritime Zone, France

A two-day boat journey from the Maritime Zone city of Vilancoulos takes you to the Bassas Da India Underwater Volcano. This site is 15 km in diameter and has a circumference of 32 km. It ascends from the ocean floor to a ridge at 40 meters. Typically submerged 5 to 8 meters underwater, visitors can walk on the rim and explore shipwrecks during low tide.
